Chiropractic Education and Training in Alberta
Extensive Clinical Preparation Meets Rigorous Standards
Chiropractors in Alberta complete years of specialized education, clinical training, and licensure exams to provide safe, effective care to their patients.
Becoming a chiropractor in Alberta requires more than just classroom learning—it involves hands-on clinical experience and rigorous professional evaluation. Chiropractic students typically complete a minimum of seven years of post-secondary education, including a four-year Doctor of Chiropractic degree. During their final two years, students spend over 600 hours in supervised clinical settings, treating real patients under the guidance of licensed chiropractors.
To practice in Alberta, chiropractors must pass the national board exams administered by the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board (CCEB). Once licensed, they are required to stay current through ongoing professional development, including approved seminars and continuing education courses. This ensures their skills remain sharp and their knowledge aligned with current best practices.
